Yeah she's the perfect shot of faith
When every bit of mine is gone
Somethin' I can believe in a best friend
A heaven sent love to lean on

As I sat across from them at a table in IHOP looking over their contract and chatting about them booking me for their October wedding one thing stood out to me...they were both very quiet, reserved, almost shy. But very sweet! Very curious! Very excited about getting married! Even though they didn't say much, they certainly weren't boring...which intrigued me. I didn't have long with them at our first meeting so I was really looking forward to the engagement session to gather more about these country lovers.
When planning for the location, Chelsey seemed really drawn to my suggestion of a local orchard or vineyard. Awesomely enough, Pittsburg has both within 5 minutes of each other! So we began the session at Efurd Orchard's. The clouds were heavy and the light was steely gray and, though Chelsey was bummed at first at the lack of sunshine, it really gave a delicious moodiness to the whole session that I liked. :)
It didn't take me long to pick up on something delightful about these two. Though they were nervous to be in front of the camera at first (and still quiet), any time they locked eyes...it was magic. All their nerves melted away and they were "home." You see, their love is a secret best friend handshake kind of ordeal...not a firework show that you can see from any place in town. {How'd you like that metaphor so close to the Fourth of July, huh? ;)}
Being with them reminded me that we need more slow and steady, quiet and calming, true and tested love these days. The stay at home, kick back, and snuggle up kind of love. The acoustic guitar mellow strums rather than the whole percussion section, y'know?
The really really inside jokes that can be recalled with one look, the pinkie promises, and long love song texts that no one sees...no one knows...except him and her. He and she. Them. Together. :)
The second half of their session we did at Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards. :)
Don't let the current Texas summer heat fool you into thinking I had these guys sweating...we did these in March and it was actually pretty chilly! Not that they minded once I gave them this solution. ;)
Their own kind of sweet silliness that couldn't be prompted or posed. I love it :)
I'm thrilled about shooting their wedding in October and being able to capture their special kind of love again...but this time it will be as they become Mr. and Mrs. Harris! :)
These are incredible!
