Yes, yes, the Hannah Nicole!!

She was participating in the Jessica Shae Summer Adventure Internship and I, as a past intern, attended the "Internship Renuion" that Jessica held on Wednesday. 

So, after about two years of waiting, we finally got to meet face to face!

{Man, I'm getting good at meeting online Hannah friends in person. ;)}

Its was funny how the big huge strange gap-of-cyber-friendshipness was swallowed up in seconds and I immediately felt like we had known each other our whole lives. :)

Ever since I found Aspire, I knew that this girl had a special soul. Beautiful, deep, rich, imaginative, and full of love....love for Christ, for her family, for people, for the eclectic, for art, for beauty, and for real living. Her style has continued to grow and deepen so rapidly she literally blows my mind every time she writes or creates something. 

Did I mention she's only 16. Yeah. I know. Its crazy ridiculous. ;)

She's pretty much the best ever. Except she can't say bag right. But I'll try to forgive her...and her camera baeg. I simply must have you back here in Texas for a longer amount of time one day, girl...maybe I can get some of our awesome accent that you love to rub off on you! ;)
P.S. Fun Fact! Rachel Leigh and I participated in a film contest recently and Hannah actually watched it without sound just so our voices would be a surprise!! Gah! How adorable is that?!

To answer all of y'all's question...yep. I had my doubts but its true.
Her eyes really are that stupendous in person. 
They're aaaamaaaaazing. :)

Oh, hey, while I'm teaching you Texas lingo, you can teach me to draw and paint and work Photoshop, k k? Cause I really need to learn and you're pretty much a beast at all of the above. :D


Ok, so I dig this shot. Absolutly Dig. It. Mostly cause its SO Hannah...it reminds me a lot of her work. :)
Which is downright phenomenal. {I'm running out of adjectives that truly describe her value you guys!!!} But anyways, if you've been living under a rock in the heart of Bolivia or something and haven't seen her work. GO. NOW. Make sure you're sitting down. Or you'll fall over. Promise.

She just recently got a 5D Mark II and 50mm 1.4 {just like me :)} and she's now officially a wedding photog. The artistic merit of this girl...beyond words.

I reeeeally loved her dress. A lot. Its a good thing I didn't stay in the hotel, cause it totally wouldn't have made it back to Minnesota. ;)

AHHH!!! Its impossible to ever tell you how wonderful it was to finally meet you/hug you so tight we could've gotten dizzy from oxygen deprivation. You're soooo very precious and we must must must see each other soon, deal?! :)

Cause yeah, you're a keeper, for sure. ;)

Without Flourish // 10 on 10 : May // northeast, tx portrait and lifestyle photographer

I know I'm not the only one that has attempted a grueling daily/weekly photo/blog challenge before. And hopefully I can't be the only one that has utterly failed. Sometimes it's just too much!! Sadly, you can't very well have a 365 project if you only stay sane enough to accomplish 247. And 52 projects are pretty lame when you peter out somewhere around the 15 or 16 week mark.

To remedy this predicament, Hannah Nicole established a chain of us photog friends to participate in a 10 on 10 project. Gist? Take {roundabout} 10 pictures one day at the beginning of the month and post them on the tenth, linking each other so that you can click around and see all our posts. 

Less hassle. Less stress.

But I'll admit, the plan isn't bullet proof. I might have run into a little bit of hassle and stress along the way despite our efforts to avoid it.

Just wait, I'll explain.

I took my pictures for this month throughout the day yesterday. And, here's the truth.

Nothing blow-your-mind-spectacular was going on.

There I said it.

 

I was at home alone, doing housework and getting a long list of upcoming blogposts constructed. 

It was one of those no makeup, don't ask me about my unwashed hair, yeah its 3:00 in the afternoon and I still have my pajamas on, listen to the music loud to stimulate consistent thought and work flow, kind of day.

Ever had one of those?

A day without flourish.

Such days can be called boring...if you want to declare yourself to have absolutely no imagination whatsoever.

I say those are the days that, even if you have to turn your head and squint a little bit to see it clearly, the beauty is hidden everywhere...embedded deeply into each hour and painted delicately on every second.

PEOPLE, LOOK WHAT CAME IN THE MAIL TODAY!!!!

{i.e. guess what I can't use until my memory card comes in?!}

Now, at that particular moment I had to really get abstract to see the beauty. 

But it was there. Tucked away in all the frustration and "WAAAAAH!!" feelings, there was a golden opportunity to teach me patience.

God sometimes holds what we want right out of our reach to teach us that the only thing we really need to be yearning after and reaching for is Him.

Yes I really really reeeeeally am excited about getting my memory card and trying out that beautiful black machine you just saw. I can't wait!!! And yet...

There's so much more to life than that. 

Real life.

Flourishless life.

God has not made this life "boring" for us. Even though He is the ultimate gift, He hasn't made Himself the only thing for us to enjoy! How kind He is to allow us to have so many enjoyable things like cameras and memory cards, sunshine and summer flowers, lazy days and exciting weekends!  

"Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;"

{Speaking of exciting weekends, let me tell ya, this one is gonna be extremely exciting. I'll have a working new camera, and some of my dear friends are getting married which means there will be other good friends coming into town to join in the festivities. Woot woot! ;)}

Making Pictures: personal // northeast, tx lifestyle and portrait photographer

I have been inspired by the artful, emotional, and beautiful way in which Hannah Nicole captures life through the medium of photography for a while now. A long while. Truthfully, in my opinion, I don't know how anyone with eyes could look at her blog for two seconds and not be tempted to camp out there for the rest of their life.

A recent post of hers went straight to my heart. She spoke of remembering to be intentional with every image you make. And that phrase itself, making pictures instead of just taking them is the epitome of what true photographic art is meant to be. I think us digital photographers often forget that a picture used to not be so accessible. It was like a favorite meal, or a birthday...it didn't come about very often, or very easy so each one was special. A treasure. A memory. And so, photographers back in the beginning days took time to think about each image they were creating.

What does all this inspiration amount to? The other day when Maggie and Anna were here I had all these lovely thoughts on my mind, and though I don't think I even began to reach the artistic value of some of my dear favorites, I really strove to think about each picture before I just mindlessly clicked that shutter button of mine. And here's what came of it all. :) 

Oh, and, yes...I let them color all over my wooden swingset. I make life fun for them. ;)

Soon. Very soon. :)

It was in the midst of all these deep thoughts that I realized something very important about myself...

My ears are freakishly small. *sigh*
